We have just added four new Cabochon lots to our website.  These cabochons are smaller and made specifically for rings, bracelets and small pendants.  What a great value!

Cabochon lot #4

Here is an example of what you may find in our new cabochon lots or sets.

While we are not adding anything to the website at this time, that doesn’t mean that nothings happening.  Currently the studio is being relocated and will hopefully be more efficient.  New products are in the design phase while the studio is out of commission.

As far as cabochons go, we have new cabbing equipment ordered and expect it to be here soon.  Meanwhile hundreds of preforms are being cut out of some awesome looking material.

Living Art Jewelry got a brand new look today.  Going from a maroon to a glossy blue, the website is less cluttered and sports a brand new logo.  The cool 3D artist palette using gemstones for the paint colors was created by Brad Andersen.

Currently we are designing a line of one-of-a-kind Argentium Sterling Silver filigree jewelry.  How is it made?  Here is a brief description.

First we start with Argentium Sterling Silver wire.  This wire is straightened and then ran through a roller press to make it wider and flatter than it’s original shape.

Once it has gone through the roller press, the wire is cut and carefully bent into the shape or shapes that we desire.

Bending the wire into shape

Once the wire is bent to the desired shape, we cut off the excess wire and solder the project together.  In the case of our angel pendent, as shown in these photos.  After the main part of the pendant is soldered, the smaller parts and components are then soldered on.  After all the main components are soldered on, we then solder in the fine filigree wire to fill the open spaces.  The filigree wire we use is much heavier than most filigree wire.  This allows us to have a much more open looking pendent while giving us the strength needed for a lasting and durable pendant.

Soldering the body of the angel.

The pendant is then touched up with a file and polished.  We add a hand cut cabochon for the head, burnish the setting, and polish one last time.

Below is what the final project looks like.
